Communication and Technology has brought us together but how near we are and how many of us can have access to global neighbourhoods is a question which may not have straight answers.  I often wonder when the continents were reached by sailing the sea for months, the people were received well and their journey made everlasting impressions on them.  On their return, they would joyously share the treasure with their folks and together they cherished the diversity which united them in a strange and peculiar way. 

Then, Silk from China and Spices from India, probably, united the people of South to North more as compared to Adidas and Mc Donalds of today.  There was an unwritten pledge then to share the commodities across the board at universally afforded prices.  Traders and Sailors scalling the heights and depths of mountains and seas would not charge a fortune from their customers despite the hardship of trade involved in the past.  Today, when the art of trading is just a click away, the overhead costs passed on to the consumer fall on them heavier despite no signficant toil is made by the Merchant.

In the Global Village, only rich can travel now or those Robotic Men and Women who work for big business houses.  True appreciation of the nature and its preserveration has long flown from the hearts and minds of the people as the Agents of the change are no more able to travel and those who do are least concerned to the transmission of values!

And if we keep on rejoicing on the terminologies like Global Village as if we have touched the farthest of skies, we are actually defrauding ourselves our intrinsic right to enrich our lives with the diversity that once used to be our way of cultural and social evolution.  Infact, the losses so occured are atleast two folded; one the real transmission of culture and values has stopped and two, luxury-loving traders are multiplying their wealth at the cost of pooer people.

Shall we not look back and find ways to renew our pledge to revive the culture of change by the legitimate Agents of the Change and check the Profiteers to be the only beneficieries of the Global Village?
